Life Lately
For the seasons that don’t look the way you pictured.
Life lately has been…a lot.
Not necessarily all bad.
Not necessarily all good.
Just…a lot.
There have been beautiful moments tucked between hard ones. Laughter in places I didn’t expect it. Disappointments I’ve had to sit with longer than I wanted to. Plans that changed. Prayers I’m still waiting on. Moments when I’ve felt hopeful about what’s ahead and others when I’ve wondered what exactly I’m supposed to be learning here.
Maybe that’s just life.
Maybe sometimes we’re so focused on getting to the part where everything makes sense that we forget we’re already living the story.
Lately, I’ve been learning how to hold more than one thing at a time.
I can be grateful and still be disappointed.
I can love the life I have and still long for things I haven’t received yet.
I can have faith and still have questions.
I can show up for the people I love and still admit that sometimes I need someone to show up for me, too.
I can laugh today even if I cried yesterday.
None of those things cancel each other out.
They’re simply proof that I’m human.
And if I’m being truthful, I think I’ve spent a lot of time believing I needed to arrive somewhere before I could fully enjoy my life.
Once this happens…
Once that works out…
Once I finally get the answer…
Once life settles down…
Then I’ll breathe.
Then I’ll celebrate.
Then I’ll be happy.
But life lately has been teaching me that there may always be something.
Something I’m waiting for.
Something I’m praying about.
Something I’m trying to figure out.
Something that didn’t go according to plan.
And if I keep waiting for everything to fall perfectly into place before I allow myself to live, I might miss the life that’s happening right in front of me.
Maybe that’s what Just Because is really becoming for me.
Not pretending the hard things aren’t hard.
Not forcing myself to be positive when I’m hurting.
Not ignoring the things I still hope will change.
Just refusing to let those things take every beautiful moment with them.
So lately, I’m trying to notice.
The conversations that make me laugh until my stomach hurts.
The perfume that makes me stop and smell my wrist one more time.
The outfit that makes me feel like myself.
The quiet moment when no one needs anything from me.
The unexpected invitation.
The song that finds me at exactly the right time.
The people who remind me that I’m loved.
The tiny moments that don’t fix anything but somehow make everything feel a little lighter.
I’m learning that maybe life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.
Maybe I don’t need to wait until the next chapter to appreciate this one.
Even if there are parts I’d rewrite.
Even if there are questions that haven’t been answered.
Even if I’m still figuring some things out.
This is life lately.
Messy in places.
Beautiful in others.
Still unfolding.
And I’m learning to let myself live it…
Just because.
This Week’s Little Love 🤍
Notice one good thing.
Not because it fixes everything.
Not because you need to turn a hard day into a good one.
Just notice it.
A laugh. A song. A quiet moment. Something beautiful.
Let it be enough for that moment.
And then, if you can, notice another.
With love, always,
Maig
