Just Because

Just Because

For the days you don’t need a reason.

There was a time when everything I did needed to make sense.

If I bought myself flowers, there had to be a special occasion.

If I wore my favorite perfume, I felt like I was wasting it on an ordinary day.

If I took time for myself, I convinced myself I should’ve been doing something more productive.

Somewhere along the way, I started believing that joy had to be earned.

Maybe you have, too.

The truth is, this season hasn’t looked anything like I imagined it would.

Some plans didn’t work out.

Some prayers have taken longer than I expected.

Life has asked more of me than I felt prepared to give.

I’ve spent more time caring for the people I love than I have caring for myself.

But quietly, without even realizing it at first, something began to change.

I started making space for little moments…

Just because.

I got my nails done because I missed feeling like me.

I wandered through Sephora simply because I wanted to smell beautiful things.

I’ve become consistent with washing my face every morning and every night. What started as a skincare habit has quietly become a way of reminding myself, twice a day, you matter, too.

These things didn’t change my circumstances.

They didn’t erase heartbreak or make difficult days disappear.

But they reminded me that even while carrying heavy things, I am still allowed to experience lightness.

I’ve realized we spend so much of our lives waiting.

Waiting until we have more money.

Waiting until life slows down.

Waiting until everything feels easier.

Waiting until we’ve accomplished enough to deserve rest.

But what if joy was never meant to be the reward at the end?

What if joy is one of the very things that helps us keep going?

Maybe wearing your favorite outfit to the grocery store isn’t silly.

Maybe lighting the candle on a Tuesday isn’t unnecessary.

Maybe buying yourself fresh flowers doesn’t need a celebration.

Maybe stopping to watch the sunset isn’t wasting time.

Maybe taking the long way home, putting on your favorite playlist, trying a new perfume, or sitting outside with your morning coffee doesn’t need to be justified.

Maybe some things are worth doing…

Just because.

So this month, that’s exactly what I’m choosing.

I’m choosing to make room for the little things that remind me I’m still here.

I’m choosing softness where I can.

I’m choosing joy without waiting for permission.

I’m choosing to believe that ordinary moments can still hold extraordinary beauty.

Not because everything is perfect.

Not because every prayer has been answered.

Not because life suddenly became easy.

But because I’m learning that I don’t have to earn beautiful moments.

I simply have to be willing to notice them.

If you’re reading this today, let this be your reminder.

Wear the outfit.

Light the candle.

Call the friend.

Take the walk.

Buy the flowers.

Wear the perfume.

Care for yourself with the same tenderness you so freely give to everyone else.

Not because you’ve checked every box.

Not because you’ve earned it.

Just because you’re worthy of joy today.

This Week’s Little Love 🤍

Do one kind thing for yourself this week without explaining it to anyone.

Maybe no one else will even notice.

But you will.

And sometimes, that’s where healing begins.

With love, always,

Maig
